This 11" by 14" piece, one of my paintings of birds of America and Wildlife Art paintings is an acrylic painting of a Western Screech Owl, a bird native to Arizona. It is based on a photograph by wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela (in his "Birds of Arizona Field Guide"), who has given me permission to use his bird photos as a basis for my bird paintings. In this one of my paintings of birds of America and Wildlife Art paintings the Western Screech Owl is perched, hidden, in a heavily leaved tree at night, his yellow eyes wide searching for prey. His feathers are a combination of blue-gray, most heavily on his back feathers, and white, most heavily on his face and lower chest area. Above the Screech Owl, to the left, is the glow of a bright moon.

The canvas has been sprayed with clear acrylic gloss varnish to keep the colors bright, and has been signed by the artist. This painting ships bubblewrapped flat in a no-bend cardboard box.
