Hand Painted Butterfly House: $75.00

This 25" tall painted wooden tole Butterfly House is a functional house for those butterflies who do not fly south for the winter. The tole house has yellow jonquils, grass, and tiny blue flowers painted on its outside. The base of the outside is painted to look like birch bark. The roof of the butterfly house is a green "A" frame and has a little door to place plants into, along with slits in the front for the butterflies to enter.

[To create a home for your butterflies, mount the butterfly house near the type of plants that attract butterflies. A butterfly habitat needs two types of plants: those that the caterpillars feed on, and those that produce nectar for the adult butterflies to feed on. The first type of plant, the hosts for the caterpillar, include Clover, Dill, Fennel, Hollyhock, Rue, Spicebush, Kale, Milkweed, Nettle, Parsley, Passionflower, Willow, Asters, Bee Balm, and Black-eyed Susan. Nectar Plants include Butterfly bush, Butterfly weed, Cosmos, Goldenrod, Lantana, Lavender, Marigolds, Mexican sunflower, Pentas, Phlox, Purple Coneflowers, Salvia, Zinnias. Also, place pieces of tree bark or long twigs inside the house for the butterflies to use as a roost.]

This hand painted butterfly house is sprayed with a gloss varnish to protect the beauty of the paint. The butterfly house ships cushioned with bubblewrap in a no-bend cardboard box.
